Indspire is seeking a Director, Communications & Marketing responsible for operationalizing and delivering its national communications and marketing strategy. Reporting to the Vice President, Storytelling, this role translates strategic priorities into integrated campaigns, structured workflows, and measurable performance outcomes across all audience segments.
 
The Director leads Indspire’s in-house marketing and communications function, overseeing campaign execution, content production, digital engagement, and brand alignment across all channels. The role ensures integration between the Brand & Creative and Digital Media & Engagement teams through clear prioritization, scalable systems, and disciplined execution.
 
Accountable for performance and delivery, the Director drives campaign effectiveness across key priorities, including Soaring, the Indspire Awards, and the National Gathering. The role oversees a multidisciplinary team, manages campaign budgets, and leads workforce planning, performance management, and capability development. It is responsible for execution quality, timeliness, and measurable impact across all communications and marketing initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be:
 
Integrated Campaign & Program Marketing Leadership

  • Owning the execution of integrated, multi-channel campaigns across digital, email, paid media, web, and experiential platforms.
  • Leading marketing execution for major institutional priorities, including Soaring, the Indspire Awards, and the National Gathering.
  • Developing and managing the annual campaign calendar aligned with organizational priorities and institutional moments.
  • Ensuring alignment across all audience touchpoints with Indspire brand.
  • Translating executive direction into actionable campaign briefs and execution of roadmaps.
  • Establishing audience segmentation and channel sequencing strategies to move stakeholders from awareness to participation and advocacy.
 
Team Leadership, Operations & Resource Management

  • Leading, structuring, and performance-managing a multidisciplinary communications and marketing team.
  • Ensuring alignment and integration between Brand & Creative and Digital Media & Engagement functions.
  • Defining team roles, responsibilities, and workload distribution to ensure efficient delivery and accountability.
  • Implementing a structured in-house agency intake and prioritization model.
  • Overseeing quarterly planning, workload allocation, and contractor management.
  • Managing campaign-level budgets and paid media investments.
  • Building scalable systems that increase efficiency, accountability, and performance.
 
Digital, Content & Brand Execution

  • Overseeing execution of content strategy across web, email, social, video, and paid campaigns.
  • Ensuring content aligns with brand positioning and institutional messaging.
  • Guiding storytelling frameworks that elevate Indigenous student success and organizational impact.
  • Optimizing publishing cadence and content performance using analytics.
  • Maintaining strong collaboration with the brand team to ensure consistency and message clarity.
  • Determining when to leverage external agencies or contractors to drive campaign execution and scale delivery capacity.
  • Managing external vendor relationships, including creative, production, and paid media partners.
 
Marketing Data, Automation & Performance

  • Overseeing CRM alignment and marketing automation strategy.
  • Leading development of audience segmentation frameworks and automated engagement journeys.
  • Establishing and monitoring KPIs tied to organizational outcomes, including audience growth, application conversion (e.g., BBF), event participation (e.g., Soaring, National Gathering), and donor engagement.
  • Developing performance dashboards and reporting systems for leadership.
  • Using data insights to inform campaign adjustments and budget allocation decisions.
 
Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of progressive leadership experience in communications and marketing roles (preferably in the charity sector)
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading integrated, multi-channel campaigns across digital, email, web, paid media, and experiential platforms.
  • Proven experience translating executive or organizational strategy into structured marketing roadmaps and campaign plans.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams (content, digital, creative, automation, experiential).
  • Experience implementing structured intake and workflow systems within an in-house team.
  • Demonstrated experience managing campaign budgets and paid media investments with performance accountability.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments (non-profit, education, Indigenous organizations, public sector, or national organizations) is considered an asset.
  • Experience in marketing national events, institutional moments, or large-scale initiatives is strongly preferred.
